Miscellaneous

There are two items in the Ashmolean collections that have no details of their provenance other than being from the 'Stonehenge' area. These objects were probably found in the late 19th or early 20th Century, but are of little significance archaeologically because there is no way of determining their original find spot. These objects reflect the collecting habits of the earliest antiquarians, most of who were primarily interested in the expansion of their collections, rather than recording details that could place the object in a broader archaeological context.

The museum also holds a small collection of documents and plans relating to Stonehenge. Most of these are from the Lewis archive.
