Aerial photographs from the Major Allen collection |
Today aerial photography is a well-established method of archaeological
survey. One of the pioneers of this survey technique was Major G.W. Allen
from Oxford. The complete archive of his aerial photographs is held by
the Antiquities Department at the Ashmolean Museum. The photographs of
the Stonehenge area were taken between 1933-1936. |
