Jack Butler Yeats (1871 - 1957)

Rehearsal

A1226; oil on board; 23.5 x 35.9 cm irregular

Signed: Jack B Yeats

Bequeathed by Miss Margaret Miller, 2000; WA2000.76

Many of Yeats's paintings illustrate circus scenes or music-halls. However, rather than being a precise depiction, the subject is instead evoked through brushwork, impasto and vivid colour.
