Inscription/Mark: '39' over 's', interpreted by M. Wellby as 1739, warden Andrej Sajzew (struck on the base)
Maker's mark: in a heart-shaped punch '??' perhaps above an 'I', interpreted by M. Wellby as the maker's mark of Fedor Ilin (struck on the base)

Teapot, on octagonal foot, tapering towards the top with flutings at the corners. The tiered hinged lid with a wooden button, the handle is formed as a serpent with ivory teeth and glass eyes. The spout is formed as sea-creature. The interior is gilt. Engraved on one side with a shield of arms with crest, helm, mantling, scroll with a motto in Russian and impaled shield of arms, identified by M. Wellby as those of Semon Luchkov. Scratched beneath the base: 'AN'.
