Inscription/Mark: 'N' for Nuremberg (struck on the rim)
Maker's mark: 'HV', identified by M. Wellby as for Hans Ulrich I (struck on the rim)


Place of Creation: Germany


Part of a double cup, silver-gilt, the body and foot lobed, a ring of hanging leaves around the stem, separately made and not gilt. Around the rim are engraved activities under the zodiac sign Libra (Sept-Oct) including cutting the corn and ploughing.
