Merchants travelled long distances throught the Muslim world and beyond. Khans or caravanserais served as hostels and warehouses where
merchants could rest, store, and trade their goods. The Khan Urthma, also called the Khan Mirjan, was built in Baghdad in 1359 CE and
was still being used as a warehouse when Creswell took this photo in the 1920s. [6313]
